Circa 2018.
Not often do you get the opportunity to talk with the Broadway company of a show during a tour due to the hectic schedule. I immediately contacted a good friend at Disney Theatrical Group to create a moment to give back to some local artists when I heard The Lion King Musical was coming to Orlando. It was an opportunity I wanted to inspire and remind these individuals who we are as an industry and what we all do together to create and support the performing arts.
"to be inspired is great but to inspire is an honor”
This talk back session shared so much great dialogue between both groups and gave a great glimpse into what happens backstage and in the life of a touring Broadway production.
Those that had been invited to participate were so excited for the opportunity to talk with leading professionals in the industry, and those from the tour were excited in return to share their stories and experiences with local artists within the community. It was an all-around inspiring time where so much was learned and shared about our roles in the industry, who we are, and why we do what we do.
The personal touch and journey of each member of not only the Lion King Cast and Crew, but those in attendance, truly showed passion for the arts. It was a very proud moment for me seeing the responses and the excitement in the eyes of everyone and a reminder of the impact we have on this industry and each other. Everyone stepped away from that moment reminded of the good and difference we make regardless of our role in the theatre. We all left inspired to continue to grow in our profession and continue making a positive impact to the performing arts.
This talk back session was captured and shared nationally through broadwayworld.com.
